Unlike a windshield, which can be repaired, a damaged rear window always needs to be replaced.
At Lebeau Vitres d'autos®, we install glass of the highest quality, exclusively from certified Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), in accordance with the various FMVSS or ANSI Z26.1 standards and approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation(DOT).
The rear window of a vehicle is crucial to your safety on the road, as it is not only used when parking but it is also important to providing safe visibility. This is why we recommend getting your rear window replaced by Lebeau Vitres d'autos® as soon as it is damaged.
This presentation explains the steps involved in replacing a rear window:
Step 1 of 4: Getting your vehicle ready
Before we replace the rear window we ensure that we protect your vehicle's bodywork and interior by covering these areas.
Step 2 of 4: Removing the damaged rear window
We make sure that we remove as much of the shattered glass from your vehicle as possible, even cleaning the interior. Next, we cut and remove the seals or glue that held the rear window in place.
Step 3 of 4: Preparing the new rear window
We then apply a primer to the vehicle's framework and allow it to dry, before applying a special bonding glue to the new rear window to ensure a strong and proper fit is achieved.
Step 4 of 4: Fitting the new rear window
The new rear window is then carefully fitted into the vehicle and any original fittings are replaced. The glue needs at least 60 minutes to set and we normally recommend that the vehicle is not driven away until after this time.
